We at Borderless Brigade have been overwhelmed by the generosity of those that have supported our efforts this year in Honduras. In the spring of 2015 at one of the local churches that was sending team members with our group that year, I was introduced to Tim Walker. Tim is the General Manager of Horizon Ag. Horizon is the leading research and rice seed developer for rice varieties grown in the Mississippi delta and surrounding areas. While talking with Tim and sharing our story he offered to help us by providing donated rice for our nutritional brigade to distribute in Honduras in 2016. Tim worked with Mike Wagner, owner of Two Brooks Farms in Sumner, Mississippi to make this donation a reality.
Mike had recently installed his own mill on his farm in Tallahatchie County to produce high quality rice for the marketplace. He has branded the rice he produces from this mill “Mississippi Blue Rice”. Mike and his son Lawrence donated three thousand 3000 kilos of enriched white rice to Borderless Brigade. They not only donated the rice, they milled it, provided the packaging which included the Borderless logo, packaged the rice in 1-kilo bags and paid for all of the inspections, certifications and export/import documents required for us to clear customs in Honduras. Please check out their website http://mississippibluerice.com and learn more about the products being produced and sold under the Mississippi Blue brand.
A great big thank you goes out to Tim Walker and the Mike Wagner family for their willingness to give back. May God continue to bless you.
